Lend a hand to clear park shrubs

20/02/2013

VOLUNTEERS are wanted to help clear unwanted trees and shrubs from parts of Knighton Park this weekend.

Parks staff will be rolling up their sleeves to carry out the clearance work, removing ash trees and other unwanted shrubbery from the park's spinney areas, on Saturday, February 23, starting at 2pm.

The work is part of the park services' Park Force Volunteer Project.

Participants should meet head gardener Mick Eaton at the green cabin, in the Gardeners' Yard. All equipment will be provided but people must wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear.

People wanting to take part, or needing more information, can contact park officer Gary McMillan on 0116 229 3638 or visit www.leicester.gov.uk/parks
