Bands bring music to city parks

Published on Wednesday, July 20, 2016

MUSIC is filling the air in Leicester’s parks on Sundays this summer as the city council's annual Bands in the Parks season continues.

The programme sees a live band performing in a different park each Sunday afternoon until September – and it’s free for everyone to enjoy.

On Sunday (24 July), the New Orleans Hotshots Jazz Band will provide the entertainment in Evington Park, with the Soar Valley Music Centre Big Band appearing in Humberstone Park the following Sunday (31 July).

Aylestone Hall Gardens welcomes the Leicester South Band on Sunday 7 August, while the Southfields Concert Brass Band will be in Knighton Park on Sunday 14 August.

The music of the Enderby Concert Band will fill Western Park on Sunday 21 August, with the Enderby Youth Band entertaining park users at Castle Gardens on Sunday 28 August.

All of the above performances run from 3pm – 4pm.

The Bands in the Parks season continues until Sunday 11 September.
