Join a free guided bike ride on Sunday

ASPIRING Chris Froomes and Dan McLays can dust off their bikes and join a free guided ride around Leicester this weekend.
Two rides will take place on Sunday (31 July) – and both will suit confident cyclists of all ages and abilities.
The first is a 10-mile tour that will highlight Leicester’s Sporting Heritage – and the second is a shorter, easier ride taking in Western and Braunstone parks.
Cllr Adam Clarke, assistant city mayor for sustainability, said: “Since 2010, the Sky Ride Local scheme has been helping people in Leicester to enjoy the benefits of recreational cycling.
“These guided rides are a great way to discover the best routes for cyclists in and around Leicester – and they’re pitched at different levels, so there’s always something for everyone.”
Sky Ride Local rides are guided by British Cycling-trained ride leaders and organised by the city council in partnership with British Cycling and Sky.
Janet Hudson, British Cycling recreation manager for the East Midlands said: “It’s one thing watching the Tour de France on television, but nothing quite beats getting outdoors yourself. You don’t have to be the next Chris Froome to enjoy our rides – we cater for all ages and abilities, so why not register for a free ride in Leicester today.”
