Vintage steam festival

VINTAGE vehicles, live music and the chance to see the mighty Gimson beam engines in steam are among the attractions that will be on offer at Leicester’s Vintage Festival next weekend.
The fun takes place over two days – Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June – at the Abbey Pumping Station, in Corporation Road.
The event will celebrate the past: with the sights and sounds of steam, vintage vehicles, 1970’s theme and live music.
Visitors will be able to browse a range of stalls, and there’s also the chance to ride on the museum’s narrow gauge railway.
Three of the museum’s Gimson beam engines will be in steam together on both Saturday and Sunday at about 3.30pm – the only place in the world where people can see three Gimson engines in steam in this way.
Visitors are invited to dress up for the event if they wish, with any outfits welcome, from Victorian dress to futuristic Steampunk and Star Wars.
There’s also the chance to bring a picnic, or buy refreshments from the museum’s popular café.
The event takes place from 1pm until 5pm on Saturday 25 June and 12noon until 5pm on Sunday 28 June.
Admission is £3.50 for adults; children are free. There is a small charge for train rides.
