Seaside Special at the pumping station

Published on Thursday, September 1, 2016

ALL the fun of the seaside is coming to Abbey Pumping Station on Sunday (4 September), as the museum hosts its annual Seaside Special Steam Day.

Parents will be able to relax in a deckchair on the museum’s beach, while children can play in the sand and enjoy traditional seaside entertainment from Punch & Judy.

The museum’s narrow gauge railway will be running – and there will also be a selection of fairground rides.

Refreshments will be available from the outdoor beach café, as well as from the indoor museum café.

The pumping station’s massive beam engines will be working and there’ll also be an opportunity to travel on a vintage bus, thanks to the Leicester Transport Heritage Trust.

The Seaside Special Steam Day runs from 12 noon until 5pm on Sunday (4 September).

Admission is £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children/concessions, with a family ticket available for £8. There will also be a small charge for train rides and fairground rides.

For more information, call the Abbey Pumping Station on 0116 299 5111.
