THERE are some exciting Easter-themed activities due to take place at Leicester’s markets over the coming bank holiday weekend.
Leicester Market is running its annual Easter bonnet competition with some fabulous prizes up for grabs.
Three winners from each age group – age six years and under, and those aged between seven and 12 – will receive a brand new bike, if their bonnets impress the panel of judges.
Youngsters are asked to make their bonnets at home and register online at www.leicestermarket.co.uk ahead of the competition.
Finished bonnets should then be brought to Leicester Market Square on Saturday (Apr 15) by 12 noon.
The young designers will then have the chance to show off their creations to the judges during the traditional Easter bonnet parade starting at around 12.30pm.
Beaumont Leys Market will also be joining in the Easter celebrations with a chocolate egg decorating competition for children on Good Friday (Apr 14).
The best decorated eggs could win a family ticket to the National Space Centre. Everyone taking part will also get a free chocolate egg.
The family fun day – which will take place at the market from 11am until 3pm – also features free face-painting and balloon modelling.
All prizes have been donated by the local market traders.
