Pedal-powered theatre at Abbey Pumping Station

Published on Thursday, June 28, 2018

AN evening of pedal-powered, outdoor Shakespeare will be performed at Leicester's Abbey Pumping Station next month.

The award-winning HandleBards are proudly billed as the world’s first cycling theatre company. They cycle from venue to venue with all the props, set and costumes needed to perform environmentally sustainable Shakespeare around the world.

To date, The HandleBards have pedalled over 7,000 miles and performed to over 70,000 people, across 12 countries and three continents.

The company’s all-male troupe (one half of the HandleBards theatre company) will be bringing its riotous take on ‘Twelfth Night to the beautiful grounds of Abbey Pumping Station on Wednesday 11 July.

Doors open at 6.30pm and picnics are welcome.

Tickets cost £15 (£17 on the door) and can be booked by calling Leicester City Council museums service on 0116 299 5111.
