AN ACTION-PACKED open day showcasing a range of different sports and leisure activities takes place this weekend.
The open day, at Aylestone Leisure Centre, in Knighton Lane East, takes place from 10am-4pm on Sunday 14 August.
Free activities will be running at the centre, including wall climbing, netball, judo and football.
There will also be a bouncy castle, pre-school ‘Gymnies’ gymnastics sessions, and trampolining.
For adults, there will also be 30-minute taster fitness classes running throughout the day, in spinning, boxing for fitness and step aerobics.
People will also get the chance to try out the latest fitness crazes of bootcamp, clubercise, Insanity and Zumba.
Public swimming will also be available from 12-4pm for £1 per person, and anyone who joins the Swim Leicester swimming lessons scheme on the day and opts to pay by direct debit will receive four free family swim passes, as well as a free swimming bag, hat and welcome pack.
The joining fee will be waived for anyone who decides to take out a gym membership on the day.
Cllr Piara Singh Clair, assistant city mayor responsible for culture, leisure, heritage and sport, said: “This is a great chance for us to showcase the wide range of activities we offer at our leisure centres. For families with children stuck for something to do during the summer holidays, this is the ideal chance to try out something new for free, or for a very low cost.”
