Leicester city centre ready for Christmas shoppers (2nd December 2016)
Published on Friday, December 2, 2016
SHOPPERS heading for Leicester city centre can make the most of free evening parking and extra park & ride services in the run-up to Christmas.
With many city centre stores open until 8pm or 9pm, a trip into town after work could be a good time to look for the perfect Christmas present.
Late-night shoppers arriving after 6pm can park for free at the city council’s two multi-storey car parks. Both Newarke Street and Haymarket car parks are waiving evening charges until 30 December to encourage people to enjoy the city centre’s festive atmosphere.
And from Sunday (4 December) until the end of the month, Park & Ride services will be running from Meynells Gorse, Enderby and Birstall seven days a week.
The first buses will head for the city centre at 10am on Sundays, with the last buses returning to the car parks at 5.30pm.
From Mondays to Saturdays, the first service departs at 7am, with the last buses leaving the city centre at 7pm,
A Sunday service will operate on Monday 26 December and Tuesday 27 December, and there will be no services on Christmas Day, 1 January and 2 January.
