A COMMUNITY fun run is being planned for Abbey Park in Leicester.
The Active Leicester event, on Saturday 10th September, is free and open to everyone, with a 5k route and a 2k route on offer.
The event has been organised by volunteers as part of an initiative called ‘Communities Doing it for Themselves’. Support has been provided by the city council’s Community Wellness Team.
It starts at 11am, but registration is open from 10am at the bandstand in Abbey Park.
Karen Pickering from the community wellness team at the city council said: “We don’t mind if you hop, skip, walk or run the route – just come along and have fun.
“Some people like to come along in fancy dress. This year’s fancy dress theme is superheroes.
“We know that getting outside and getting active can be beneficial to your health, and it makes you feel good. This event is designed to be something you can take part in as a family no matter what your age or fitness level, so come along, meet other people and join the fun!”
After the event, there will be a ‘teddy bears’ picnic’ in the park for all the family.
