Flag to be raised to commemorate armed forces

A FLAG commemorating the UK’s armed forces will be raised at a public ceremony in Leicester on Tuesday.
The event at Leicester’s Town Hall Square, on Tuesday, June 21, at 1.30pm, will see Leicester Lord Mayor Councillor Stephen Corrall joined by Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Colonel Richard Hurwood, for the flag raising and a brief ceremony.
The ceremony is taking place to show support in honour of Britain’s armed forces from the past, present and future. It is part of events marking Armed Forces Day 2016.
A parade for Armed Forces Day will also take place on Saturday, June 25, starting at 11.40am at from Jubilee Square, and travelling to Gallowtree Gate.
Both events are open for the public to attend.
