Latest landlord forum to take place

LANDLORDS and letting agents can get up-to-date help and advice on issues affecting them at an event next month.

The latest Leicester City Council Landlord Forum takes place on

Tuesday, May 16, from 1pm to 4pm, at the Main Hall in City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester.

The free event is open to all private landlords and letting agents, and will cover a range of relevant and topical issues.

Landlords will have the chance to discuss the impact of Universal Credit with the DWP’s partnership manager to ensure the service meets their needs. 

Other topics will include Landlord legislation, the Our Leicester Let and Finder’s Fee Scheme, the importance of checking for Japanese Knotweed, and welfare reform changes.

Information will also be available from organisations including: 

  • Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service
  • Clockwise Credit Union
  • Leicester Energy Agency
  • Citizen’s Advice Leicestershire
  • SJL Insurance Services
  • Council Tax and Benefits Service
  • Decent and Safe Homes
  • Leicester City Council’s waste management team

Leicester City Council’s revenues and benefits manager, Kathryn Ellis, said: “In an ever-changing world of welfare reform, the Landlord Forum is a very good way to bring together private sector landlords and letting agents to ensure they are up to date with the latest laws, changes and issues affecting them. 

“It’s a valuable source of help and information for anyone involved in renting out property, and gives them access to the expert practitioners who can answer their questions.

“I’d advise anyone wanting to keep up to speed with current legislation, changes in welfare reform and issues affecting all private sector landlords to attend.”
