Community fun day in Thurnby Lodge

A COMMUNITY fun day is taking place in Thurnby Lodge this weekend.
The event takes place on Willowbrook Park, opposite Thurnby Lodge community centre, from 12-4.30pm on Saturday (8 July).
Attractions will include Billy Bates’ funfair, bouncy castle, rodeo bull ride, go-karts and pony rides. There will also be an animal petting zoo, a range of stalls, food and music.
The event is free for people to attend, and is made possible thanks to £3,000 of support from the community association and local ward community funding.
Local councilor Teresa Aldred, who has organised the annual fun day as a volunteer for more than five years, said: “This is a much-loved community event that brings everyone together, so I’m always glad to get involved with it.
“We also have a ‘challenge the councillor’ and ‘challenge the local police’ event running, where people will be able to vote who they’d most like to see gunged in slime!
“Votes cost £1 a time, with proceeds going to Thurnby Lodge care home for elderly people.”
