New online portal launched for Swim Leicester

A NEW online portal has been launched to help parents track their children’s progress as they learn to swim.
The Swim Leicester portal also allows parents to pay for swimming lessons online and check what criteria children need to meet at each swimming stage. Parents get online notifications when their child is ready to move up to the next stage.
The portal is accessed from the Leicester City Council website via a secure hub, at https://sportsbookings.leicester.gov.uk/HomePortal/. It’s the latest part of Swim Leicester, the city’s new learn to swim school, which launched in May last year and offers lessons for both adults and children.
More than 600 extra people have signed up for swimming lessons in Leicester since the launch, joining nearly 4,000 others who regularly have swimming lessons at city pools.
Lessons are available every day of the week at all of the council’s swimming pools, and run throughout the summer holidays. Prices start from £4.50 for a half-hour lesson.
All of the city council’s swimming lessons are run in partnership with the ASA, with trained instructors, expert teaching and continual assessment, so that children automatically move up when they are ready.
Children are rewarded for their progress with stickers, certificates and badges – and Swim Leicester mascots encourage swimmers to have fun while they learn.
Crash courses are also available, offering intensive training over holiday periods, as well as individual lessons.
All children enrolled in the Swim Leicester school get free swimming during public swim sessions.
