Acclaimed art writer and historian to give lecture at museum

A LEADING art writer and historian will be giving a lecture at New Walk Museum and Art Gallery as part of an exhibition on Indian artist Lancelot Ribeiro.

 

David Buckman, author of the acclaimed art dictionary ‘Artists in Britain Since 1945’, will be giving the special illustrated lecture entitled ‘Lancelot Ribeiro: Artist and Innovator,’ on Saturday, May 5, at 3pm.

 

The lecture ties in with an important retrospective exhibition of the Indian artist, ‘Lancelot Ribeiro: A Voyage of Discovery’, which is currently on show at New Walk Museum.

 

David will also be signing copies of his book, ‘Lancelot Ribeiro: An Artist in India and Europe,’ at the event.

 

Ribeiro was born in Mumbai in 1933, and first visited Britain in 1950, settling here permanently in 1962. He became a prominent painter, focusing particularly on landscapes.
