Apply for school place before 15 Jan deadline

Applications need to be made for children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, before midnight on Monday.


Applications also need to be made for children moving up from infant to junior school.


Assistant city mayor for children, young people and schools, Cllr Sarah Russell, said: “Applying on time gives you the best chance of getting in to one of your preferred schools, so it’s very important that families apply before the deadline.


“Applications are made online, and all the information needed to apply can be found on our website.”


If parents need help with applying, they can visit the council’s Customer Service Centre, in Granby Street, on Monday 15 January, where staff will be running a drop-in help session from 9.30am until 4pm.


Starting school isn’t an automatic process, so parents need to ensure they have applied for a school place. They are also advised to use all three preferences when applying for a place.
