Road improvements taking place on two city routes

Published on Monday, July 30, 2018

TWO busy city routes will be affected by roadworks over the coming week.

A series of overnight closures will take place for improvements to be made at the junction of Soar Valley Way and Lutterworth Road, overnight from Monday, July 30 to Wednesday, August 1.

The closures will only be in effect between 7pm and 6am each day.

Drivers using Lutterworth Road in each direction will not be able to turn right or go straight on at the junction during the night-time closures, and will instead be directed along signposted diversions.

The works will involve resurfacing work connected to the bus corridor scheme in the area, along with some traffic signal alterations.

This coming weekend, a section of Troon Way will be closed to traffic for repairs to take place.

The route will be closed between the junctions of Gleneagles Avenue and Barkby Road from 7pm on Friday, August 3, and 5am on Monday, August 6.

Work will involve about £150,000 worth of carriageway resurfacing.

A diversion will take traffic along Melton Road, Belgrave Road, Belgrave Gate, St Matthews Way, Humberstone Road, Uppingham Road, The Portwey, Victoria Road East, Thurmaston Lane and Humberstone Lane.

It is part of a larger investment of more than £1million being made on roads across the city’s communities this summer.

The work is being carried out in the school holidays when there is less traffic on the roads, and to ensure that the city’s road surfaces are in good condition before autumn and winter.
