Traders invited to register interest for this year's Christmas market

IT MAY only be March, but plans for Leicester’s Christmas celebrations are already taking shape – and a bigger, and better, Christmas Market will be at the heart of the city’s events programme.
Traders who are keen to take a stall at this year’s market are now being invited to register their interest for an event that has been revamped for 2018.
This year, the market will open on Saturday 1 December and close on Christmas Eve, with a strong focus on high quality gifts, crafts and decorations.
Of the 45 wooden chalets that will fill the new market square, five will offer delicious hot food and snacks, while mulled wine and hot drinks will be available from the Christmas Market’s licensed bar.
The setting for the market will also be improved for 2018, with a new screen at the rear of the Corn Exchange providing a festive backdrop for the Alpine-style chalets.
Markets business manager Sonya Spink said: “This year, we’ve started the search for our Christmas traders early to make sure we get the range of high quality gifts, crafts and food that visitors to our Christmas Market will expect.
“We now want to hear from the makers, bakers and caterers who will help make the Christmas Market one of the highlights of Leicester’s events programme.
“We’re particularly keen to attract local and independent traders who want to sell gifts, crafts and Christmas decorations, so this year we’re offering flexible payment terms that will help small businesses secure their stall while making their upfront costs more manageable.”
Traders interested in applying for a stall at Leicester’s Christmas Market must submit their expressions of interest by Monday 30 April.
