Call for artists to showcase work at Riverside Festival
Published on Thursday, May 17, 2018
Leicester’s Riverside Festival features a new ‘Art on the River’ event, where painters, 2D artists and photographers can display and sell their artwork area along Western Boulevard, where it will be seen by more than 30,000 festival-goers.
The festival takes place along the River Soar’s Mile Straight, Bede Park and Castle Gardens on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3.
Artists are able to rent a three-metre railing space on the riverside, which will cost just £25 per day or £35 for two days.
Wire and small cable ties are provided for artists to attach their work to the fence.
The Art on the River exhibition is a new addition to the Riverside Festival, which is now in its 21st year and has established itself as the city’s largest free festival.
The Riverside Festival regularly includes a programme of street entertainment and live music, fun fair and children’s activities, a street market selling arts, crafts and food, as well as plenty of river-based activities including a narrow boat rally, rides and demonstrations.
All artwork must be mounted and artists will be responsible for looking after their own work. There will be security on site during the day but artwork will be removed at night. No tables or marquees are allowed on site.
Artists wanting to exhibit at Art on the River can contact Theo Markham-Crew, Leicester City Council Festivals and Events, on 0116 454 3600 or by emailing Theo.Markham-Crew@leicester.gov.uk
