Sunday date for emergency vehicles at Abbey Pumping Station
Published on Thursday, May 2, 2019
A VINTAGE fire engine will be on display at Leicester’s Abbey Pumping Station this Sunday (5 May) as part of the museum’s annual Emergency Services Day.
The Green Goddess fire engine will be one of more than a dozen emergency vehicles on show, with vintage motors lined up alongside modern vehicles from the emergency services’ current fleets.
Visitors will be able to get up close to the exhibits and have a go with a fire hose or even an old-fashioned stirrup pump.
The museum’s café will be open, while its gardens provide the perfect spot for a picnic if the weather is fine.
Abbey Pumping Station’s Emergency Services Day runs from 12 noon until 5pm on Sunday.
Admission is £3.50 for adults, with no charge for children.
Rides on the pumping station’s narrow gauge railway will also be available for a small additional charge.
