ADULTS wanting to learn new skills will be able to find out more at a series of open days taking place throughout December.

Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service (LASALS) is running six open days at libraries and community centres across the city, where people can meet staff, find out about courses on offer and how to enrol.

The events take place as follows:

Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre – Thursday, December 5

The BRITE Centre – Monday, December 9

Pork Pie Library and Community Centre – Tuesday, December 10

St Matthews Centre – Wednesday, December 11

Leicester Adult Education College – Thursday, December 12

New Parks Library – Friday, December 13

Each open day runs from 10am to 2pm and no booking is needed.

LASALS head of service, Kerry Gray, said: “This service helps ensure that a range of readily-accessible courses are available for people from all walks of life, in order to help them learn new skills and often to help improve their overall wellbeing.

“It is a valuable resource offering some wonderful opportunities to help people develop and learn in a supportive environment, at a range of venues across the city.”

Leicester assistant city mayor for jobs, skills and communities, Cllr Mustafa Malik, added: ”These  courses can be a fantastic springboard to learning a whole new set of skills, developing new interests and meeting new people.

“I’d urge anyone considering an adult education course to go along to an open day near them and find out what is on offer.”
