Haymarket car park to close for one day this weekend

A BUSY city centre car park will be closed for one day this weekend while essential work is carried out as part of a major improvement scheme.
Haymarket car park, on Belgrave Gate, will be closed from 6am on Sunday (27 Oct), until 6am on Monday (28 Oct). This is to allow the main route through the car park to be resurfaced.
The work is part on an ongoing £1.8million programme of improvements to repair and revamp the ageing building. This has included re-laying a large area of the top floor outdoor deck and installing a new weatherproof coating, drainage improvements, and structural repairs to the concrete and brickwork.
New payment machines, better lighting, new electrics and improved CCTV will be installed to make the car park safer and faster for customers to use, along with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras.
In addition, new surface-level pedestrian walkways are being installed, along with new lining and signing and larger parking bays.
Work is being carried out in phases to help minimise disruption and is on schedule for completion by late-November. Some sections of the car park will remain closed until then.
A second full day closure is scheduled to take place on Sunday 17 November.
