APPLICATIONS are now open for Leicester Adult Education College’s popular Access to Higher Education courses.

The programme offers an alternative route into university-level study for adults that have been out of education for some time and have few or no formal qualifications.

Access courses are offered in social sciences and in business studies and previous students have received university offers for subjects ranging from accountancy, counselling and criminology to law, psychology and sports coaching.

Although no open days can be offered this year due to coronavirus, a new website has been launched with details about the access programme, information on funding and advice from students who have successfully completed the access courses.

Jackie Mills, access to higher education programme leader at Leicester City Council’s Adult Skills and Learning Service, said: “Perhaps now more than ever, lots of people may be thinking of making new and positive changes in their lives.

“The Access to Higher Education programme can offer a fast track to university education. As well as learning new subjects in a friendly and supportive environment, you will learn lots of key skills to help prepare you for successful study at degree level.

“While we can’t offer our normal open days, we want people to know that we still here to answer any questions they may have about our courses.”

The next Access to Higher Education courses are due to begin week commencing 21 September 2020.
