A MAIN city centre car park will be closed for one day this weekend while essential work is carried out
Haymarket car park, on Belgrave Gate, will be closed from 6am on Sunday (12 Jul) for essential electrical upgrades and maintenance work.
The lower level only of the car park will reopen on Monday 13 July. The roof deck will remain closed for a further day, reopening on Tuesday (14 Jul).
Martin Fletcher, Leicester City Council director of highways, said: “With Leicester following the current health guidelines and staying safely at home, this is the perfect opportunity to carry out this essential work.
“We’ve seen usage drop to about 25 per cent of normal rates over the last week, and we can be sure that the car park will still offer sufficient space for key workers to park on Monday, when we reopen the lower level.”
Advance warning signs giving notification of the closures are on display at the car park.
