EMPLOYERS in Leicester are being urged to find out about free training and expert careers advice on offer for staff at risk of redundancy.

Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service (LASALS) is offering free training and support packages for local businesses to help staff who are facing the risk of redundancy or on extended furlough.

The new scheme offers tailored packages which could include access to careers guidance, opportunities to gain new qualifications or develop new skills, and expert support to help people feel more confident in any future recruitment process.

A range of onsite, online or classroom options can be offered for individuals or groups.

The scheme is funded by the Education Skills Funding Agency and courses can be offered free of charge for eligible individuals.

Anna Parr, learner support and welfare officer at LASALS, said: “It is really important that staff and employers facing the uncertainty of the pandemic know that there is support available to help them prepare and plan for changes and choices they may be facing in the weeks and months to come.

“We want to reach out to employers at this challenging time and work with them to offer their staff the opportunity of free training, skills development and advice to help them broaden their job opportunities.

“We also offer a range of opportunities to develop skills through our career builder programme that could be ideal for supporting staff facing extended furlough.”
