Further sewer works due on Aylestone Road

SEWER works linked to the redevelopments near the Leicester Tigers rugby ground will be taking place again this weekend.

Contractors working on the £22m scheme to create a five-storey, 191-room hotel complex and an 800-space multi-storey car park at the former Granby Halls site ground are carrying out the underground works on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4.

Two lanes of city-bound traffic on that section of Aylestone Road will remain open during the works, but the pop-up cycle path which runs alongside the Tigers ground will temporarily be unavailable.

Cyclists and pedestrians will be able to use the road crossings at Walnut Street and at Knighton Street, near junction of Welford Road, instead.

Traffic management around the works is the responsibility of the project’s contractors Marshall, and is being carried out by subcontractors UDP.

Earlier sewer works were carried out at the same site last month.
