YOUNG people in Leicester who are getting their exam results can use the city council’s Connexions service to get help and advice.
Tomorrow (Thursday, 18 August), students who have been studying for their AS and A-Levels will find out their grades, while next week, on Thursday, 25 August, GCSE students will pick up their results. Results of BTEC, T Level and City and Guild exams are also due over the coming week.
Anyone who needs support with their future plans can arrange to see a Connexions advisor for help. Connexions is a specialist service offering advice on education, employment and training opportunities. It is based in the city council’s dedicated Youth Employment Hub at 2 Wellington Street in the city centre.
Simply call 0116 454 1770 (9am-4pm Mon-Fri) to book an appointment, or email queries to connexions@leicester.gov.uk
Assistant city mayor for education Cllr Elly Cutkelvin said: “Good luck to everyone who will be getting their exam results soon. We know it can be an anxious and uncertain time, but if you need advice regarding your plans, or need to set new plans, our Connexions advisors are here to help.
“If you don’t get the results you were hoping for, a Connexions advisor can help you find out what your alternative options are. And if you’ve done better than you think, there could be last-minute opportunities open to you that you might not have thought about before.
“Whatever your situation, don’t panic! Our trained careers advisors can help you.”
Connexions advisors have in-depth, up-to-date knowledge of the university clearing process, how to apply for apprenticeships and jobs, and how to create a CV. They can help young people consider all the options open to them so that they can make a well-informed decision about what they want to do next.
