DRIVERS are being warned of diversions and possible delays this week caused by urgent repair works being carried out to one of the busiest routes into Leicester.

From 7am on Wednesday, August 17, Infirmary Road – which connects Aylestone Road and Oxford Street near Leicester Royal Infirmary – will be closed to all traffic to allow Severn Trent Water to carrying out emergency repairs on a hole which has opened in the road.

Drivers using that route into the city centre will be diverted via Welford Road, Tigers Way and onto the inner ring road. People will be able to access Leicester Royal Infirmary will via Jarrom Street.

The closure is expected to remain in place until Friday lunchtime (August 19) to ensure the work can be carried out safely.

Signs warning drivers of the closure are already in place.
