A DAY ticket that allows unlimited travel for families travelling together on Leicester’s buses will be available to buy from Saturday (15 October).

Launched in time for the half-term break, the Family Flexi Day Ticket will make getting out and about a little more affordable for families, with a day’s travel for up to two adults and three children costing just £8 during half-term.

Families can use their ticket on any bus operated by Arriva, Centrebus, First, Kinchbus, Stagecoach and Vectare throughout the ‘Leicester Flexi’ area, stretching from Syston in the north to Countesthorpe in the south, and from Scraptoft in the east to Ratby in the west.

Tickets can be bought from the driver or bought through the bus companies’ ticketing apps.

The reduced price of £8 will available during every school holiday, with the Family Flexi costing £10 at all other times. The special £8 rate will also be offered on Diwali Day – 24 October – to allow families to get together.

Cllr Adam Clarke, deputy city mayor for transport, clean air and climate emergency, said: “We introduced a family flexi ticket during the school summer holidays this year and sold more than 8,000 tickets over an eight-week period.

“That was a clear indication of the demand for low-cost family bus travel so I’m pleased that we, the Leicester Bus Partnership, can now offer this value-for-money ticket on a permanent basis.

“I hope that families will be able to get out and about this half-term, hopping on and off Leicester’s buses without having to worry about buying multiple tickets and enjoying a walk in a park, a trip to a museum or a visit to family or friends on the other side of the city.”

The Family Flexi ticket is the latest multi-operator ticket to be introduced by the Leicester Bus Partnership. Flexible tickets are already available for adults, students and children, helping to make bus travel more straightforward, and more affordable.
