PEOPLE living in the Belgrave, Beaumont Leys and Mowmacre Hill areas of Leicester will be able to find out about jobs and training opportunities on offer in the city at a major recruitment fair taking place next month.
More than 20 local businesses will be represented at the event which is being run by Leicester City Council’s Employment Hub and the Department for Work and Pensions. They include Leicester City Council, Leicestershire Police, Amazon, Leicester College, the NHS, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, and Inspired to Care.
Jobs on offer will include roles in health and social care, warehousing, and sports and administration.
A range of support services and training providers will also be at the event, including Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Services; Fashion Enter; Futures for Business; The Prince’s Trust; and The Leicester Construction Hub.
The jobs fair will be held on 7 June at Dock, at 85 Exploration Drive, Leicester. It will open from 9.30am to 1pm.
Peter Chandler, head of economic regeneration at the city council said: “This event will give people the chance to talk directly to a wide range of local employers and organisations that can provide support with job applications, training and financial help to get to work.
“It’s more important than ever that we hold events like these to make sure people know about the options open to them. Our employment hub can also provide support for people who are looking for work or want to boost their skills.”
Paul Gisbey, DWP Service Leader for Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, said: “Reaching out to local communities and providing outreach services is proving such a valuable service. Working in the community supports some of our most vulnerable customers which I know makes a big difference to people looking for work and seeking support. We very much value our partnership with Leicester City Council’s Employment Hub and local services supporting this event.”
The Leicester Employment Hub is a business support project for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Leicester and Leicestershire area.
It works directly with local businesses to increase demand for apprenticeships, traineeships, work experience, internships, volunteering and work placement opportunities.
