MOTORISTS are being advised of possible traffic disruption in parts of the city due to the funeral of a local religious leader.
Thousands of mourners are expected to pay their respects to Shaykh Adam of Jame Masjid during his funeral on the morning of Friday 8 March.
Shaykh Adam was lead Imam at Jame Masjid, on Asfordby Street, since its establishment in 1977 and dedicated almost 50 years of service as a revered community leader.
Prayers will be held on Spinney Hill Park from 9.30am on Friday (8 Mar). Organisers have asked that people who wish to attend use public transport or walk.
Although no road closures are planned, roads between Asfordby Street, Spinney Hill Park and Saffron Hill Cemetery may be busier than normal and drivers should expect delays.
There will be parking restrictions in place on streets close to the park and cemetery to help manage traffic.
Roads likely to be affected include Asfordby Street, Baggrave Street, Green Lane Road, East Park Road, Shelbourne Street, St Saviours Road and Stonesby Avenue.
