MOTORISTS are being warned that overnight traffic restrictions will be in place on a busy Leicester road from later this month.
Leicester City Council will be closing part of St Margaret’s Way to inbound traffic, between Abbey Park Road and Riverside Park/St Margaret’s Pasture, for up to three nights while essential bridge maintenance work is carried out, and vehicle damage to the bridge parapets is repaired.
The inbound closure is due to be in place overnight from 9pm on Friday 31 May, Monday 3 June and Tuesday 4 June. The road will reopen to traffic from 5am on each day to help minimise disruption.
A short, well-signed diversion will be in place via Abbey Park Road, Belgrave Gate and Burleys Way.
A Leicester City Council spokesperson said: “These overnight closures are required while essential maintenance and repair work is carried out to the St Margaret’s Way river bridge. The work will be carried over three nights to minimise disruption to traffic using this busy route.”
