BUSINESSES in Leicester are being asked to help to fill the city with Christmas cheer by sponsoring Christmas trees that will light up public spaces or their own premises, throughout the festive season.
The city council’s festival and events team is offering businesses the chance to purchase 20-foot trees that will be delivered fully decorated and lit, with concrete bases and safety barriers that can carry branding or sponsorship messages also provided.
The trees will be professionally installed at the business’s chosen location, and regular maintenance checks will be included as part of the package.
Two types of tree are on offer: a Nordman Fir costing £3,200 or a Norway Spruce costing £3,700.
Chris Hackett, the city council’s festivals and events manager said: “As always, we will have a 55-foot Christmas tree at the Clock Tower as the centrepiece of our Christmas decorations, and this year we will also have an additional large tree in Town Hall Square.
“We’d really love to see other public spaces – such as Orton Square in the Cultural Quarter - lit up with colourful trees, and so are offering businesses a very easy way to sponsor a tree that they can use to promote themselves, as well as contribute to the Christmas atmosphere in Leicester.”
The sponsors and location of the trees will be publicised as part of the city council’s Christmas promotions.
The offer is open to all businesses across the city, not just those in the city centre.

Anyone wishing to sponsor a tree is asked to make contact by 15 October to meet delivery deadlines.
