MOTORISTS in Leicester are being warned of possible delays this weekend as one of the region’s biggest charity road runs returns to the city.
Thousands of runners, of all ages and abilities, are expected to turn out for the Leicester 10k race on Sunday 1 March 2026.
The event will start and finish at Jubilee Square, with the route heading from the city centre to Victoria Park and through the University of Leicester. The race will then head back towards the finish line at Jubilee Square via New Walk and Leicester Cathedral.
To ensure the safety of runners and spectators, there will be a series of rolling road closures and other traffic restrictions in place on the morning of the race.
Road closures will begin at 5am around Jubilee Square and St Nicholas Place. The rest of the closures on the route will come into effect from 8am until around 11.30am, when all the runners have passed.
Roads affected include Waterloo Way, London Road, Belvoir Street, Bishop Street, De Montfort Street, Friars Lane, Gallowtree Gate, Granby Street, Granville Road, Grey Friars, High Street, Horsefair Street, Market Place and Market Place South, New Street, Peacock Lane, Regent Road, Rutland Street and University Road.
The Leicester 10k race is organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All.
Runners can choose to run for a charity close to their heart or get involved one of the event’s official partner charities.
