ROAD repairs are being carried out by Leicester City Council from next week on four busy streets.
Carriageway resurfacing will get underway on part of Saffron Lane, between Sturdee Road and Trenant Road, from Saturday 14 February for up to five days.
Red Hill Slip Road, in Beaumont Leys, will also undergo resurfacing on Sunday 15 February. Work is expected to take one day.
Then, from Monday 23 February, Stanley Road, between London Road and Barradale Close, will undergo carriageway resurfacing for up to five days.
Concrete bay replacement works, and associated footway repairs, are also due to be carried out on Ingold Avenue, at its junction with Potterton Road junction, from Monday 23 February for up to six weeks.
All the schemes will require road closures in both directions, with parking restrictions and localised, well signposted diversions in place.
In total, the schemes will represent repairs to almost 4,200 square metres (4,167sqm) of the city’s road network and will cost around £250,000.
The works are part of the annual capital maintenance programme carried out by the city council, which will see about £6million invested in the highway network and maintenance activities.
Leicester City Council’s director of highways, Martin Fletcher, said: “Traffic and weather have a huge impact on the city’s road surfaces. This essential programme of repairs will help to ensure that our roads remain able to handle the demands that are placed on them for years to come.
“We always aim to keep disruption to a minimum while works are carried out and thank people for their patience and understanding while we do so.”
